Before you can drive a car you'll need...
...to be 17 years+ (unless registered disabled (16 years)) and have a signed provisional driving licence for the category of vehicle you intend to drive for manual or automatic.

You will need your provisional driving licence before you can take any lessons. It's best to learn to drive with an Authorised Driving Instructor to make sure you meet the grade for both the DVSA standards tests.
